A downloadable game for Windows

Pyrodrome is a game made in 96 hours for the 2025 Game Maker's Toolkit Game Jam.

Your truck leaves behind a trail of fire. Close the loop to capture the enclosed territory. The player with the most territory at the end of the round wins.  You can play 1v1 against a CPU, locally against a friend, or remotely using Parsec.
We recommend grabbing a friend!

Instructions for singleplayer

  1. Start the game and click 'Quick Match'
  2. [IMPORTANT] Press A/D on your keyboard or left/right on your controller so the icon becomes highlighted. If you skip this step, the game will become softlocked. Sorry!!
  3. Click 'Confirm'
  4. Drift!

Controls

KeyboardGamepad
SteerA and DLeft Stick
DriftShiftA
BoostSpaceRight Trigger

To set up local 1v1 multiplayer

Note that you must have two gamepads! Keyboard control is not supported for multiplayer.

  1. Plug in two controllers
  2. Start the game
  3. Click 'Versus Match' (NOT 'Quick Match')
  4. Wiggle the left stick on both controllers and make sure one is P1 and the other is P2
  5. Select a stage

You can use Parsec to play with friends remotely. We used it to playtest with each other during development. It works pretty well!

Tips

  • You can cut off your opponents trail by driving over it.
  • You gain boost meter when you drive over your own territory.
  • There is an alternate stage with powerups and hazards. To get there, click 'Versus Match' and at stage select, click the right arrow to get to 'Hazard Level'. There's bomb, ice, scorcher, and big mode.

Prior art

  • This game was inspired by Splatoon, Crash Bash, Star Sled, and many more. Check them out!

Polished and clean, can stand on its own outside of a jam

Good idea! I remember playing a game like this as a kid, where you had to quickly cut off a piece and the main thing was to close the line before the saw could cut through it. But your idea is even cooler. Awesome job!
